A combination of factors led me to make a large amount of strawberry yogurt-turned smoothies last weekend. I wanted to get healthy, use the plethora of strawberries I bought on a whim at Costco recently, and not waste any of my tart plain yogurt in the fridge…and I just didn’t want to any more drinks with high fructose corn syrup in it!
Here’s my recipe for a strawberry smoothie, but you can add any fruit your heart desires…
Ingredients
2 cups plain, whole-milk yogurt
1 cup frozen organic or pesticide-free strawberries
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar
Preparation
In a blender, combine all ingredients.
It’s as simple as that.
The longer it sits in your fridge, the more potent the fruit taste.
Best when consumed within 24 hours.
It’s easy to eat, healthy and halal.

Delicious! thanks for the tip about the fruit taste becoming more “fruity” in the fridge.
Do you have a recipe for making your own yogurt without a machine, the old fashioned way? I’ve done it a few times, with varying degrees of success and would like a tried and true method.
This sounds SO yummy and refreshing. I will be sure try it:)
is this the same yogurt smoothie i had at your house last weekend? i’m in love with it! and you wonder why i’m ‘opportunistic’! heheh
Wonderful sounding smoothie! I like the tip about letting it sit in the fridge. I had no idea the it would become more fruity.
Great site…yummy food!
Where ever good food and good friends are, I’ll be there :)
Salaam Alaikum Yvonne thanks for the tip!!!!
So refreshing and blueberries are so healthy for you. For a breakfast-like smoothie, I add oatmeal to a regular fruit smoothie. Check at http://www.phamfatale.com/id_131/title_Blueberry-Maple-Oatmeal-Smoothie/
